Traditional Traction

Up until the late 90’s, virtually all vertical building transport, for either passenger or goods movement, was powered by either traction or hydraulic drives with motor rooms. As a result, there are countless buildings in the UK that are equipped with either a motor room at the top of the building, basement or at ground floor level.

Today, new lift installations mainly relate to MRL equipment (machine-room-less lifts). The majority of PIP Lifts’ work is associated with control drive refurbishment or replacement.
